The Island is expected to be hit by a ‘brief spell of wintry weather’ as a storm crosses northern France on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A yellow alert – the lowest level of alert – has been issued by Jersey Met.
In the alert, which is classed as an ‘early indication of a potential snow event’, it states: ‘A brief spell of wintry conditions from Tuesday evening to later Wednesday morning may lead to some snow for a time.
‘Current indications are that there is a low risk of a small amount of snow lying on the ground temporarily, most likely on higher parts of the Island.
‘A further advisory will be issued if and when necessary.’
Jersey Met forecaster Sharon Merren said there was still some uncertainty over the exact track of the storm.
She added: ‘On Tuesday a low pressure is expected to move over northern France and this will give us rain during the afternoon. As the low pulls away overnight there is the possibility of some sleet on its back edge.
‘Then we will be in a showery north-westerly flow, and these showers could be of sleet or snow.’
