Amicus founders Sir Peter Wall and Jennifer Carnegie tell JEP Business why their latest workshop, Leadership for High-Performing Teams, could be the game-changer your people need
-
Can you start by telling us a bit about Amicus and the mission behind it?
Amicus has been going for ten years now. We set it up to enable organisations to acquire the leadership skills to get the best from the people in their workforce.
We work in all sectors in Jersey, the UK and further afield, concentrating initially on the C-suite level in an organisation. Our tools and techniques are practical, drawing on our own leadership experiences.
Most businesses invest too little in this area, failing to harness high-performance or fully engaged employees. There are no inherently bad organisations, just bad leaders.
-
That sounds like a powerful approach. Tell us about your upcoming workshop, Leadership for High-Performing Teams. What’s it all about?
Leadership for High-Performing Teams is built around creating cohesive, results-driven teams.
We designed this workshop to address real-world pain points that leaders face every day: improving team morale, driving productivity and managing conflict, just to name a few.
We guide participants through exercises, simulations and case studies, so they leave with both understanding and practical ideas they can apply immediately.
Our workshop addresses what leaders can do to help their teams achieve more, stay engaged and align with the broader goals of their organisations.
Attendees can expect to leave with clear, actionable strategies to build trust, create accountability and foster a culture of high performance.
-
What would you say are the main benefits for leaders who attend your workshop?
One of the biggest benefits is clarity. Leaders often feel overwhelmed with the responsibility of bringing out the best in their teams, especially when they are juggling multiple roles. Our workshop breaks down effective leadership into manageable pieces.
Leaders gain insights into their own style, learn how to identify and leverage the strengths of each team member, and leave with a toolkit for building team cohesion.
Another benefit is immediate impact. We focus on strategies that leaders can implement the very next day. There’s no guesswork, no wondering whether it’s going to work.
These are proven techniques that have helped hundreds of teams we’ve worked with. The result is not only higher productivity but a deeper sense of team unity and motivation.

You mentioned real-world pain points. What are some common challenges that teams face, and how does the workshop address them?
Plenty of organisations fail to achieve their full potential because the leadership culture isn’t conducive to highly-engaged people striving for the best standards.
Lack of clarity over purpose and goals, poor planning and prioritisation, internal politics, low-risk appetite and a fixed mindset can all constrain organisations and make them less stimulating places to work.
In contrast, organisations focused on results, with strong accountability and commitment, high levels of trust and servant leaders who set the conditions for employees to flourish and succeed will perform well and have a significant edge in the market place.
-
For leaders considering attending, what will they experience during the workshop that sets it apart from typical leadership training?
Our workshop is immersive. Leaders will be fully engaged from start to finish, practising what we’re teaching in real time. They’ll participate in role-playing scenarios, team challenges and reflective exercises.
We want leaders to feel what it’s like to be in those high-stakes situations and practise the skills they’ll use in their own teams.
-
What kind of leaders will benefit most from attending Leadership for High-Performing Teams?
Leaders at any stage of their career can benefit, but it’s particularly valuable for those managing teams where performance has plateaued, or for those who are stepping into new leadership roles. If a leader is facing challenges like low morale, high turnover or even just a lack of team engagement, this workshop will provide them with the skills to turn things around.
It’s also beneficial for leaders who are already successful but want to take their teams to the next level.
High-performing teams need proactive, self-aware leaders who aren’t just reactive but can anticipate and address team needs before issues arise. If you’re committed to developing that level of leadership, this workshop is for you.
-
What can attendees expect to walk away with after the workshop?
Attendees should leave feeling empowered and equipped to lead with confidence. They’ll have a clear strategy to implement, a deeper understanding of what makes a team perform at its peak, and a renewed sense of purpose. We also hope they walk away inspired. Leading a high-performing team is challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. By investing in their growth and learning to lead authentically, they’re not only improving their teams but also creating a lasting impact within their organisations.
For those looking to elevate their teams to new heights, reshape their team’s performance as well as their own career, this workshop might be just what they need to unlock potential and drive results.
