TWO properties near the border between Trinity and St Helier have been evacuated following reports of a gas leak.
Jersey Fire and Rescue have reported that the leak has prompted the closure of Grande Route de la Trinité between Rue de Mon Sejour (south of the Sir Francis Cook Gallery) and Rue de la Godillerie (the Lyndale Sports turning).
Honorary police officers are redirecting traffic around the affected area.
A Fire Service spokesperson said: “Two properties have been evacuated and other residents have been advised to stay indoors and close their windows.
“The scene has now been handed over to Island Energy and the Honorary Police, however a fire engine will remain on scene for the time being.”
Islanders are being asked to avoid the area.
The JEP has asked Island Energy for further details about the incident.
