The Blue Nissan Micra was found abandoned in the sea at Ouaisné in St Brelade yesterday morning following the raid on the Gorey Village property.
Detectives contacted the owners, who awoke to find items, including a MacBook Pro laptop and two electric guitars, had been stolen.
Detective Inspector Steve Langford, head of the States police Criminal Investigation Department, said the ordeal had caused the family ‘considerable distress’ and officers believed that the home was specifically targeted.
Anyone with any information or private video footage in the area of Gorey Village or Ouaisné are urged to contact the States police on 612612 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
The force are also asking Islanders who are offered the opportunity to buy any of the stolen items to contact them.
