A GROUP of Liverpool fans hired a RIB to France ahead of the Champions League final following the cancellation of an easyJet flight to Paris.

Paddy O’Toole, who is from Liverpool but now lives in Jersey, and 12 other fans, made the crossing to St Malo on Friday.

Mr O’Toole told the Liverpool Echo: ‘My lad Patrick’s mates Adam and Tom Dring, who are from Huyton, had their easyJet flight cancelled, so their dad rushed them down to Heathrow to try to get a flight but there was nothing.

‘They got a flight to Jersey last minute and they met up with us and asked could we get them to France.

‘We felt sorry for the young lads so we had to do something.’

The group eventually hired a Rib which took them to St Malo well ahead of Saturday’s clash with Real Madrid.

The original flight to Paris was one of dozens cancelled by easyJet after the company suffered an IT failure.
