Firefighters in two vehicles were called to tackle the blaze near Minden Place car park at about 7 o’clock yesterday morning following several calls from members of the public.
By the time the crews arrived the commercial vehicle was ‘well alight’ and there were fears that the fire might spread to nearby cars and buildings.
One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus and using a high-pressure hose was able to bring the fire under control.
