The RNLI St Catherine’s Lifeboat was also launched to assist the Fire Service in rescuing the group.

Two men were rescued from rocks east of Grève de Lecq and two other men, who were part of the same group, were rescued by firefighters from inside caves nearby after getting stuck because of rough sea conditions and the alarm was raised by a fifth member of the group who had managed to swim back to shore. He returned with a lifeguard and guided the inshore rescue boat and St Catherine’s Lifeboat to where the group had got into difficulty.
