The maximum temperature on Tuesday is expected to be about 10°C – average for this time of year – but in the strong to gale-force wind forecasters say it will feel more like 3°C or 4°C.

As well as being colder than recent weeks, it is expected to be drier, although there will be showers throughout the week.

Last December was the mildest on record, with ten daily maximum records broken throughout the month.
