It was announced on Tuesday that 1,000 people are to lose their jobs – including six employees in Jersey – after the administrator to Austin Reed failed to find a buyer for the collapsed menswear retailer.
Administrator Alix Partners announced that the retail chain’s 120 stores, including the Halkett Street store, are to close by the end of the month.
The news comes at a bad time for the high street, with the fate of department store chain BHS due to be revealed later this week.
