Condor Liberation cancelled today

The ferry tweeted on Monday morning to say that there will be no sailing all day between Portsmouth and Jersey and Guernsey.

Tweeting from their Sailing Updates account, the ferry firm said: ‘Update: Due to an electrical fault on Condor Liberation it has been necessary to cancel today’s PO-GU-JE-GU-PO service.’

Further tweets said that the Rapide ferry will however provide a link for all inter-island traffic on Monday, while an additional service will be provided on Tuesday.

Since its launch earlier this year, the Condor Liberation has suffered months of technical problems and concerns over its stability.

However, a report published by naval engineers and architects Houlder Ltd last month concluded that the vessel is ‘safe, stable and well-suited to operating in the English Channel’.

The independent report also found that the rolling motion sometimes experienced by the £50 million vessel is less frequent than that of the catamarans previously used by the operator.
