So far, the Island has seen an average maximum temperature of 13°C – 0.4°C higher than the previous record set in December 1953.
Daily temperature records have also been broken 16 times over the course of the month.
During this month, temperatures peaked at 14.4°C on the 6th and 16th. Although warm, they failed to top the all-time record for the month of 15.9°C set on 6 December 1959.
And Christmas Day swimmers will enjoy warmer waters than normal, with the sea temperature expected to be 12°C – beating the previous record of 11.1°C in 2014.
