On a day when he is due to face tough questions in the States following the publication of a report from Comptroller and Auditor General Chris Swinson last week in which he was highly criticised, the Senator said he should have acted sooner when problems arose with a States’ deal to buy Lime Grove for a new police station.
However, he added that the Island now had a better solution for a new police station- that being a proposal to build on Green Street car park – than Lime Grove had offered.
The Senator was speaking on the day that Jersey’s main public sector unions were calling on him to resign after serious criticism of him in the Lime Grove report.
They are also calling on Chief Minister Ian Gorst to remove Senator Ozouf from his post should the Treasury Minister not realise that to continue is untenable.
