The 42-year-old, pictured right, described it as a ‘perfect day’ after setting off from Samphire Hoe, west of Dover harbour at 3.18 am before finishing on the beach of Wissant, France, exactly 15 hours later.

Tréhiou, who works for HSBC, said: ‘I had a dream crew and a dream day. It was fantastic.

‘I have always wanted to finish on a sandy beach with my crew and because the tides pulled me down (past Cap Gris Net) that is exactly what happened. I finished with my crew of seven close friends which was just perfect.’

Having overcome breast cancer, Trehiou thanked everyone that has supported her along the way.

‘I was really poorly last year so this was a celebration of getting back to health and I want to thank my friends who have been with me on a very long journey.’
