Second World War veterans and survivors of the Occupation were among the large crowd who joined in a commemorative service and watched a re-enactment of the 1945 events in Liberation Square.
Other events included a Champagne breakfast, a special States sitting, a ceremony at the slaveworkers’ memorial at Wesmount and, after the formal events of the day, an afternoon of entertainment at the Weighbridge Square.
