It resolves a dispute between some clubs and the ferry company after it was announced a few weeks ago that Islanders might have to pay more to transport large vehicles – at the same rate as commercial trucks and freight.

The issue came about when UK Customs officers announced a crackdown on ferry-transported vehicles that were not being declared in the right category.

It meant that private, large vehicles, such as panelled vans, which had previously been able to travel as passenger vehicles, would need to be included in the same group as commercial vans or trucks which pay a higher rate.

After complaints from several clubs at having to pay commercial rates, Condor Ferries has now introduced special tariffs for Channel Islands associations.
