Days of hot and dry weather coupled with Val de la Mare reservoir being taken out of service to undergo repairs have seen water levels drop to just 50 per cent.
Although Jersey Water says it is ‘comfortable’ with the current situation, it was warned that the plant, which converts sea water into fresh water, will be turned on if the dry weather continues into next month.
If it is fired up, it will be the first time that the Corbière plant has been used since the heatwave of 2006.
