Many bosses are seeking the use of video conferencing equipment to allow them to stay in touch with overseas clients and offices.

Jersey Chamber of Commerce president Ray Shead has written to senior ministers to say that the body was prepared to act as a conduit to commerce to help implement any Council of Ministers-led contingency plan.

Mr Shead said that Island businesses were now beginning to suffer the effects of air travel being stopped. He said many firms had staff members who were away for the Easter break and were due to return to the Island yesterday but could not get back.
