A VAN driver drove his vehicle while over the legal alcohol limit – and then did it again a few hours later.
The Magistrate’s Court heard that 30-year-old Charles Edward Reynolds-Hunt was stopped by the police on Pier Road on 28 September on suspicion of driving while over the limit.
He admitted he had been drinking and a breath test showed 88 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal maximum is 35 micrograms.
However, St Helier Centenier Danny Scaife, prosecuting, added that a few hours later Reynolds-Hunt was stopped again on Pier Road, and found to have a reading of 57 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
Relief Magistrate David Cadin imposed an interim driving ban and postponed sentencing until 8 November to allow time for a pre-sentence report. Reynolds-Hunt was released on bail.
