Former teacher dies at 103

A teacher at St Martin’s School for 56 years, Miss Le Huquet dedicated her life to helping others.

She joined St John Ambulance in 1947 when she formed a division of nursing cadets at St Martin’s School.

Earlier this year, she became a life patron of the Jersey branch for services to the Island and to St John in first aid, going back to the Occupation years.

When she celebrated her 100th birthday she asked relatives and friends to give donations to Family Nursing and Home Care instead of presents.

As a result, £1,000 was raised for a new hoist for those with mobility problems.

The former Constable of St Martin, John Germain, said that Miss Le Huquet had been dedicated to the school and the scholars during her many years as a teacher in Jersey.
