After a tendering process run by the French local council funding the service, a Breton company called Société Morbihannaise de Navigation has been chosen.
The Lorient-based shipping line beat Emeraude and incumbent operator Connex to run the year-round service.
The service, which will run from Carteret, Granville and Diélette to Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark, will begin on 1 April.
Established more than 100 years ago, SMN currently runs eight ferries that sail between Lorient and Quiberon on Brittany’s south coast and the nearby islands of Ile de Groix, Belle-Ile, Houat and Hoedic.
Its parent company was one of the firms that bid for Emeraude when the company was put up for sale in 2003.
