Before the debate had even begun Senator Vibert left the Chamber and told the House that regardless of what they decided he would not ‘give up his right of free speech’.

However, it emerged during the debate that the sites may be sold to the JFSC for £60,000, and that Senator Vibert may face a vote of censure before the end of the year.

Members voted by 34 votes to five to approve Economic Development’s proposal to stop using his www.jfsc.com and www.jerseyfsc.com websites or any others that could be confused with that of the JFSC.

They also backed calls to ask Senator Vibert to remove statements on the sites on the director general and deputy director general within 48 hours, and to refrain from making unsubstantiated allegations.

It also emerged during the course of the long debate that Senator Vibert had agreed to sell four website domain names to the JFSC for a total of £60,000.

Senator Vibert is expected to give the money to the previous owner of the sites, former Senatorial candidate Adrian Walsh.
