So drastic has the turn-around been that States tenants are now asking to be moved to Clos Gosset in St Saviour, when just two years ago they were asking to leave, according to Housing president Deputy Terry Le Main.

Long-term resident Frank Tyrrell has been the driving force behind many of the changes and Deputy Le Main has applauded his and the estate’s achievements.

‘What the residents of Clos Gosset have done is remarkable.

It’s the only estate in the Island where the people have had enough and decided to take action themselves – and look what’s happened.

The children are cleaning the estate and they’ve got a football team.

I don’t think Frank Tyrrell and his crew have been credited enough for what they’ve done – and maybe we are guilty of that ourselves.

But the residents down there have been wonderful and that’s a testament to an estate that two years ago people were queuing up to come off.’
