“HIGH visibility patrols” are being carried out by States police officers in a part of St Helier after crossbow bolts were found in a children’s play area and a man was arrested.

The force confirmed today that a man had been arrested by armed officers on Wednesday following the discovery of the bolts in the play area at Grands Vaux.

In a short statement, a spokesperson said: “The individual is on bail and community [policing] is providing reassurance high visibility patrols within the area.”

The force has also confirmed that “a number of items were seized and secured” as part of the investigation into the incident.

It is understood that the patrols by officers have involved door-to-door visits in a bid to reassure residents, but it is not clear whether any users of the play area had reported being shot at, or whether the bolts were found lying on the ground at a later stage.
