THE Jersey Coastguard has issued a warning, as large spring tides and strong winds have been forecast for the coming days .

The organisation said on social media that Islanders should be “extra cautious” if they planned to explore the coast today or tomorrow.

Spring tides of around 12 metres are expected at 9am and 9pm today, with levels projected to be almost as high tomorrow.

And the Island is due to experience winds of force four and force five.

Jersey Coastguard urged Islanders to check the tide times before venturing out, keep an eye on tides – which can rise quickly – and tell someone else about their plans.

“If in doubt, head back to safety sooner rather than later,” the statement said.

In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
