BRITTANY Ferries’ takeover of Condor has been approved by Jersey’s competition watchdog.
The French ferry firm announced last month that it intended to become a majority shareholder in Condor Ferries.
Announcing the bid, Brittany Ferries chief executive Christophe Mathieu said they were looking to become “far more involved” with the Channel Islands and increase their minority shareholding to a 51% stake.
Jersey Competition and Regulation Authority chief executive Tim Ringsdore said the move was recently approved by the watchdog and that further details would be published soon.
Brittany Ferries is currently vying with Danish shipping firm DFDS to win the new contract to run the Channel Islands’ passenger and freight services.
