A VAN driver who knocked a motorcyclist off his motorbike – and whose van turned out to be uninsured – has been fined £2,500.
The Magistrate’s Court heard that the collision happened in David Place on 31 May, when Carlos De Sousa Pestana (43) reversed his white Citroën van to make way for a car coming out in front and hit the blue Honda motorcycle behind him.
The court also heard that Pestana had only bought the van four days before the incident and did not realise it was uninsured. He admitted charges of careless driving and driving without insurance.
Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu decided not to ban him from driving.
