A MAN who failed to turn up to court to face motoring charges because “it slipped his mind” has been fined £380.
The Magistrate’s Court heard that 31-year-old Jack Peter Jenkins was spotted on 24 April driving at 29mph along Rue à Don in Grouville, a road with a 20mph speed limit.
Advocate Lauren Taylor, prosecuting, added that the police officers who stopped him discovered that his driving licence still bore his old address and he had not informed Driver and Vehicle Standards of his new one.
Jenkins had been due to appear in court on 19 August but failed to do so. When asked by Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu why he had failed to attend, he said: “It slipped my mind.”
He was fined £80 for speeding, £100 for failing to surrender to court, and £100 each for not updating his licence and not notifying DVS of his new address.
