SIX Airport firefighters are due to climb the highest mountains in the UK within 24 hours this month to raise funds for a charity that provides free football sessions for disabled young people.

The Three Peaks Challenge – which involves scaling Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England and Ben Nevis in Scotland – is due to begin on 11 September.

Ross Aley, Curtis Monks, Jack Langford, Mark Ray, Neil Harvey and Marcin Mietelka will be joined by a recently retired colleague, Alan Bertram, who will drive and assist them throughout their journey.

The firefighters are raising funds for Soccer Stars Juniors, a charity founded by team member Mr Ray that offers free football sessions for young people with learning or physical disabilities.

Those wishing to support the team’s efforts can make donations through their JustGiving page: justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ARFFSthreepeakschallenge?utm_term=aA6jMnKPM.
