SUNDAY marks the return of the 2024 Beach Volleyball summer series for its third tournament.
With the weather finally deciding to play ball, Jersey’s volleyball players will be doing just that at the Gunsite Café at St Aubin’s Bay.
The Jersey Volleyball Association has enjoyed their transition from a highly successful indoor season to the golden sands of the beach game.
For this event, 12 teams are registered in the mixed pairs competition.
JVA committee member and player Andreea Gabriela said: “We’re really excited to get back out and compete again.
“The tournaments we have done already this summer have been really popular.
“With 12 teams signed up, this one should be a fantastic contest.
“I can’t wait to see the level of talent and sportsmanship we’ll have on display.
“It’s sure to be an even bigger event than the last competition and I think it will attract lots of attention from the volleyball and sporting community on Island.”
The JVA said at the beginning of the summer about how they hoped their superb Hampshire Volleyball Association league performances from both men’s and women’s sides would inspire more people to take up the sport.
Moving into the summer months and the beach game, Gabriela and her fellow committee members have been delighted with the uptake of new people.
“The number of new players who have shown interest recently is so great,” she added.
“We hoped that we could inspire some new people to see what an amazing sport it is that we play, and we want to see still more people.
“The sport is for everyone and our community is just incredible, so anyone who wants to take part, we want to see you there.”
Action on Sunday is set to start at 10.30am at the Gunsite Café.
