TALENTED Jersey Archery Society juniors are in action at the Archery GB Youth Festival, held at Lilleshall Hall National Sports Centre, in Shropshire.
So far, the Jersey shooters are proving their class, earning six medals across multiple events.
In the Women’s Recurve under 15 event, Grace Harvey and her teammate worked their
way through the elimination matches to secure a third-place finish.
Meanwhile, Peter Luce and his partner managed to progress through to the Men’s Recurve under 18 event, earning a place in the gold medal match.
Freddie Crosby and his teammate achieved similar success, earning a place in the Men’s Recurve under 21 final.
The Women’s Recurve under 21 event saw Mollie Perrett and her partner progress through to the semis-finals, where they were unfortunately beaten.
However, showing incredible composure, they rallied to earn the bronze medal in the third-place play-off match.
Subsequently, the festival then moved onto the Mixed Pair International matches between England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Jersey.
Jersey could only afford enough archers to fully cover the Recurve under 21, however, the other home nations donated archers to allow the Caesareans to compete in the Recurve under 18, under 21, Compound under 18 and Barebow events.
Competing in the Recurve under 21 event, Perrett and Crosby were superb to beat Scotland to progress to the semi-finals, but they came undone to the excellent Welsh pair.
However, Perrett was able to maintain her success in bronze medal matches, helping Crosby get the better of England 6-2.
The Recurve under 18 event saw Luce partnering up with Callie Davies from Wales, where the duo would fall in Northern Ireland in the quarter final.
Hannah Bridle was also partnered with a Welsh teammate in Klim McCarthy for the Compound under 18 event.
The duo lost to England in a close semi-final but managed to return to winning ways, bringing the bronze medal home.
Jersey was represented by two English archers in the Barebow event and the borrowed athletes earned a third-place finish for the Island team.
Despite fantastic efforts from all, Jersey placed fifth in the national mixed pair competition.
Hampered by the short-handed nature of the team, Jersey could accumulate, so many points, limiting their final standing.
With the festival of archery still ongoing, the Jersey Archery Society juniors are setting their sights on the final stages of the event.
