JERSEY Rally 2023 champion James Labey produced a superb performance in the fifth round of the Pro Tyre British National Tarmac Championship.

Labey claimed an excellent ninth place overall in the Argyll Rally in Dunoon, Scotland, alongside UK co-driver Sion Cunniff..

The Jerseyman impressed throughout the long Scottish highlands rally, racing in his Fiesta Rally 2 to claim a sixth place finish in his class.

In the event, 140 starters took to the Dunoon town centre in West Scotland on 21 June, completing six gruelling stages.

Last Saturday, saw an 8am start, with a further 11 stages being completed through the mountains behind Dunoon.

With the Friday evening producing heavy rain, there were worries for the conditions ahead of Saturday’s race.

However, it cleared well in time to start and Labey did not hesitate to capitalise on his opportunity.

Labey said: “I’m really happy with the result.

“It’s a great finish for me, considering how strong the driving field was.

“Since winning the Jersey Rally last year, I’ve really been trying to kick on and build on that momentum.

“Hopefully this result is the first of many upward performances for me moving forwards.”
