Debbie McGee has said it will be like “starting from scratch” for Strictly Come Dancing as she last danced 35 years ago.
McGee, 58, the wife of late magician Paul Daniels, was one of the final three celebrities announced to be taking part in the 15th series of the BBC One show.
She said: “The last time I danced was over 35 years ago.
“I’ve never had any experience in this type of dancing, but I learnt ballet and modern tap when I was a child and I did dance for a few years – but that was 35 years ago, so now it’s like starting from scratch.”
The TV and radio personality confessed she was worried she may forget the dancing steps mid-way through a routine.
“I’m just worried that halfway through I will forget, especially when you’re live and the nerves take out.”
McGee, who will turn 59 this year said she hoped to make it as far as the Halloween show of the series as she celebrates her birthday on October 31.
Strictly Come Dancing returns for the launch show on BBC 1 at 7pm on September 9.
