A JERSEY photographer was the man behind the lens of a widely shared image accompanying the Princess of Wales’s latest health update.
Award-winning photographer Matt Porteous was responsible for the snap of Kate surrounded by nature near her home in Windsor which was posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s social media platforms.
In the accompanying statement, the Princess shared that she was “not out of the woods yet” and had “a few more months” of cancer treatment remaining – but confirmed her attendance at the King’s birthday parade, Trooping the Colour, which took place on Saturday.
Mr Porteous’s photograph subsequently appeared on hundreds of news sites and on the front pages of national newspapers over the weekend.
Writing on his Instagram, Mr Porteous, of Studio M at Colomberie, said: “I am deeply honoured and grateful to have had the opportunity to capture such a special moment.”
Hundreds commented to show their support and praise him for the portrait.
The Princess’s attendance at the parade marked her first public engagement since December 2023 when she joined the Royal Family at the annual Christmas Day church service at Sandringham.
She was admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery in January and her cancer diagnosis was announced in March.
It is not the first time that Mr Porteous, a former Les Quennevais School pupil, has taken pictures of the Royal Family.
He was previously commissioned to shoot Prince George’s third and fifth birthday, Prince Louis’ christening, and the Jersey -born creative was invited to capture the Christmas card photograph at the royal couple’s country home in Norfolk several years ago.
His images of the royals have featured on the front cover of Hello! Magazine as well as in the Daily Mail and the Daily Express.
Mr Porteous, who attended Bel Royal School, also photographed the wedding of the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister Pippa, who married James Matthews in a star-studded ceremony in 2016.
