A CAC Boomerang – an Australian military plane dating back to the Second World War – is also due to return to the show after appearing at previous events.
However, event organiser Deputy Mike Higgins said that the display, which is due to take place on 13 September, was still in its early stages and that bookings could change.
‘We are still getting planes and sponsorship sorted out, so I do not want to say too much, but we do have the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight coming back, with the Spitfire and Hurricane booked,’ he said.
‘We were waiting for the new [Channel Island] director of Civil Aviation to be appointed, so we have not yet had anything signed off and finalised.
‘But we do also have the CAC Boomerang, which is quite an unusual aircraft. Although it has been to Jersey before, it has not been to the UK.’ Mr Higgins added that four Swedish Air Force aircraft, including two supersonic jets, were also part of the event’s current line-up.
‘This year, we will have four Swedish Air Force fighters coming over – the Saab J35 Draken, Saab J37 Viggen and two Saab J32 Lansen. They were all really advanced for their time,’ he said.
‘We have had the double-seater J35 Draken before, but we should be getting the single-seater version, which is the much more beautiful version of the Draken family.
‘The Viggen has also come to Jersey before, but this year one of them will be in its Swedish camouflage.’
Last year the Red Arrows, which are regarded as an annual fixture at the Jersey display, were not able to come to the Island after being ordered to appear in a diplomatic tour in Pakistan. Instead, a Latvian aerobatics team called the Baltic Bees performed.
Now, following an announcement made in April that the Red Arrows would return for the 2018 event, Deputy Higgins has said the situation remains unchanged.
