BOTH winners of the Jersey FA Premiership 1 player of the year and Women’s player of the year last season have again been nominated for the awards on 7 June.

Karl Hinds, who played for Grouville last campaign, amassed an astonishing 47 league and cup goals in just 22 appearances, to win the award in 2023.

The marksman, now of St Clement, was just as potent this campaign, steering his side to Premiership 1 glory.

In 26 appearances, Hinds fired 44 goals, with only one coming from the penalty spot, to finish 15 goals clear of St Brelade’s Kieran Lester in second spot.

The forward goes up against St Brelade teenage star Will Yates, who has broken through into the first team with flying colours this season, helping his side to the 101st edition of the Jersey FA Le Riche trophy after beating Madeira FC on penalties to etch their name onto the famous cup for the first time since 1966.

He was also named man of the match in Jersey U16s Muratti victory against Guernsey, with two goals against their old foes.

St Peter’s Jamie Watling completes the shortlist, after yet another impressive season in the heart of defence.

Alongside Jack Griffin, the duo have built a solid rapport in a treble-winning campaign for the Crosskeys in new Jersey Bulls manager Elliot Powell’s final season at the helm.

Meanwhile, on the women’s shortlist Sofia Rodrigues picked up exactly where she left off last campaign with Jersey Wanderers.

She will attempt to defend the crown she won at the tender age of 17 after continuing her development, both as a mainstay in her combination side and a regular feature of the Jersey FA Women’s Representative team.

The versatile teenager can play both at full-back and on the wing and netted six times with four assists from just 11 games this campaign at club level.

Also nominated is Rozel Rovers Hannah Campbell, who enjoyed an excellent scoring season with nine goals in all competitions with two assists to boot.

Her exploits helped lift her side to a three-point victory over Wanderers in the Women’s Division.

Last, but not least, is Island stalwart Libby Barnett, who has been a standout performer and leader for both Jersey Wanderers and Jersey.

The nine-time Women’s Muratti winner announced that she will step away from the playing side of the game upon the completion of the season after an exceptional career, while serving as a pioneer for young women in Jersey sport.

The winners are set to be announced at the end of season awards at L’Horizon Hotel.
