FIREFIGHTERS had to cut a driver out of a car lying on its side after a late-night collision on Saturday.

They were called just before 9pm to a vehicle on its side on Bagatelle Road with the driver still inside.

Jersey Fire and Rescue posted on Facebook that it was attended by one fire engine and the rescue unit, with six firefighters and a duty officer attending.

They added: “On arrival it was quickly established that the driver wasn’t able to exit the vehicle without assistance. The JFRS crew stabilized the vehicle and created access for the Paramedics to be able to enter the car and assess the driver.

“JFRS crews had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to create space inside the vehicle and then assisted the paramedics to help get the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was assessed on scene by the paramedics before being transported to hospital by the attending ambulance crew for further assessments.”

The driver was assessed on the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital for further assessments.

The incident is being investigated by the States police.
