A JERSEY-born businesswoman has been named one of the UK’s top 100 female entrepreneurs by a national industry group.

Katie Killip, who owns a brand agency and is currently based in London, was recognised by Small Business Britain, which launched its campaign in 2017 to showcase women running companies in the UK.

Ms Killip set up the first female-ran design agency in the Channel Islands in 2008, Uba Studio, and founded a branding and creative studio called Mantra Brand House in 2015.

Her company works with charities, lifestyle brands, retail and travel companies. It focuses on sustainable campaigns, rooted in Ms Killip’s early work with Jersey’s Recycling Department since 2006, which has led her to become a speaker at conferences focusing on sustainable start-ups.

Ms Killip called it an “honour” to have been selected in the top 100 list, adding: “I hope it’ll help shine a light on some of the amazing causes I’ve worked with, such as Channel Islands Pride and Les Amis, and show the wider world that Jersey is home to some brilliant ideas with world-leading, progressive people champions.”

Small Business Britain founder Michelle Ovens said: “Despite all of the challenges of recent times, it is fantastic to see female entrepreneurship continuing to grow and flourish in the UK, and we must do all we can to encourage and build this further.”
