A MAN in his 20s was arrested yesterday in connection with an attempted robbery at a convenience store in St Helier.

The arrest followed a police appeal for witnesses on Saturday in relation to an incident involving a masked man alleged to have entered Morrisons Daily on Queen’s Road on Friday evening and to have threatened cashiers before leaving empty-handed.

Police confirmed yesterday that they had arrested a 22-year-old male, with a renewed appeal for witnesses to the incident, which occurred between 6.30pm and 7pm on Friday.

Officers are looking for anyone who may have been in the area, including drivers on Queen’s Road or the surrounding area who might have dash-cam footage.

Potential witnesses are asked to contact police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via the anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
