Jersey’s police headquarters evacuated after Islander brings “historic incendiary devices” into the building

THE States police headquarters was evacuated this morning and people were urged to avoid the area after an Islander brought two “historic incendiary devices” into the building.

The road outside the the police station was also closed to cars and pedestrians while a bomb disposal officer was called out to remove and discharge the devices.

The road has now been reopened and staff have returned to their offices.

In a statement, the force said: “Although, the intention was simply to declare the devices and seek some advice, safety procedures had to be put in place.

“We must remind the public that if they find any such items, to leave them in situ and to call police so that qualified personnel can attend and safely remove them.”
