THE production line of talented young footballers coming through the Jersey FA Performance Centre continues with St Paul’s Jason Da Silva the latest recruit to the academy of Premier League club Fulham.

Following successful trials, Da Silva is set to join the Cottagers for the remainder of the season, following in the footsteps of Marlon Fossey, Luke Harris, Callum Osmand and Luca Picotto.

The aforementioned’s abilities were all discovered in the Island by Fulham recruitment staff through the club’s relationship with the JFA, along with centre manager Paul Renton and football development manager Brian Oliver.

And there may be more young players getting their chances to shine in professional academies with the JFA looking to consolidate its relationships with Chelsea, Southampton and Plymouth Argyle.

As well as the performance centre, for St Paul’s Football Club it provides another success story for their own youth development programme, with former players Sammy Henia-Kamau at Swansea City, Leandro Vieira at Portuguese side Maritimo and Miguel Carvalho, who has recently trained with Crawley.

Meanwhile, another ex-player, Cavaghn Miley, continues to enjoy his professional career as the current club captain at Southend United.

“We are delighted for Jason and his family and look forward to following his career over the years as he transitions into the professional set up at Fulham,” said St Paul’s president Paul Sowney.

“Jason started with the club from the age of five, joining in the minis and progressing right the way through to juniors, while currently playing for our U14 and U15 teams.”

“St Paul’s have always had the philosophy of player development from youth with the view to progressing players to the highest standard possible,” added Sowney.

“It is testament to the volunteers, coaches and everyone involved with the club who given up their own time to ensure that these players are getting the opportunity to play the game we all love and enjoy.”
