THE Havre des Pas bathing pool has earned a spot in a new anthology showcasing some of the most beautiful saltwater pools in the world.

Sea Pools: 66 saltwater sanctuaries from around the world by architect Chris Romer-Lee describes the pool as ‘a sensuous shape, caressing the beach in a glorious and gracious sling of concrete’.

And the pavilion, Mr Romer-Lee writes, ‘has the appearance of an elaborate wedding cake’ – befitting the ceremonies held at the venue.

He outlined some of the pool’s history, from the establishment of the Jersey Swimming Club in 1865, all the way to its reopening in 2000.

The book includes a selection of pools in far-flung destinations, such as Australia and South Africa, as well as pools located closer to home – for example in Dinard. It also features four essays exploring ocean pools and ocean swimming.

The Lido team wrote on Facebook: ‘We know just how unique and special our location is. Many users also know, and visitors are often overwhelmed by just how incredible our facility is.

‘We won’t give up, we know that we have the majority of people behind us as well.

‘We need to nurture our Island’s assets and celebrate them with the rest of the world.’

Sea Pools: 66 saltwater sanctuaries from around the world is available at Waterstones or can be found on Amazon.
