THE Jersey Lifeboat Association launched its all-weather vessel on Friday evening after an 11-metre rib with four people on board became swamped on the Minquiers sand bank.

The four passengers were picked up by the motor yacht Coral Bay.

The JLA said Sir Max Aitken III’s triple pumping capabilities meant the rib was able to be salvaged and taken back to St Helier.
