The Jersey Reds assistant coach will team up with Jones again this weekend before a two-match Test series against USA and Canada at Twickenham. His recruitment means he will miss the Lions’ visit to Jersey for an 11-day pre-series training camp, starting on Monday.
Robinson spent six weeks at the heart of England’s 2021 Six Nations campaign, having been approached by Jones off the back of a trip the head coach made to Jersey in 2020.
‘Eddie has got us working hard and prepping for the games already,’ Robinson explained. ‘He called me a few weeks ago to ask if I was available to help the team and I’m massively excited to work with the coaches and under him again.
‘The Six Nations was massive for my development as a coach and the opportunity to do it again is really exciting. I’ll be doing skills again but also a bit more of the attack this time, so there’s a little more responsibility.’
Robinson, who was set to leave the Island today, added: ‘It would have been awesome to have a look at what the Lions are doing.
‘They’re right up there, for me. England is a fairytale team but the Lions are another level on top of that. I’ve been lucky enough to be on two Lions tours but I would have been like a little kid if I’d been in Jersey when they’re over.’
