The 2019 RaceNation Sport & Move More Awards – held at the Radisson Blu Hotel on the Waterfront to acknowledge performances from August 2018-July 2019 – shone the spotlight on the Island’s best sporting talent past and present, with netballer Guthrie claiming the Sporting Performance of the Year trophy for the second year running thanks to her continued success as captain of England.
Great Britain shooter Pirouet, who was shortlisted for both the main and U21 Sporting Performance categories, picked up the top prize at junior level again, having done the same in 2018 for his efforts on the international stage.
Also recognised last night were pre-World War I golfer Ted Ray and Commonwealth Games shooter Cliff Mallett (both added to the Jersey Sport Hall of Fame), alongside Lifetime Achievement award winner Sally Minty-Gravett, MBE, for her dedication to long-distance swimming.
Cycling stalwart Andy Hamon picked up the trophy for Manager or Coach of the Year, Bob McGinnigle (angling) was named Volunteer of the Year and Charlotte Samson (lifesaving) claimed the Young Volunteer of the Year gong for U25s.
Jersey Triathlon Club claimed the Sports Organisation of the Year title, with Victoria College Prep being named the Move More School of the Year.
Accuro Fiduciary were also double winners – claiming the Workplace of the Year prize – while @jersey.runclub won the Group of the Year award.
