THE new Lieutenant-Governor has taken his oath of office, marking the start of his five-year term as the King’s representative in the Island.
Vice-Admiral Jerry Kyd replaces Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton, whose term came to end earlier this year.
Vice-Admiral Kyd said he was ‘honoured’ to be in Jersey ‘and a part of this community and their future journey for the next five years’.
The Lieutenant-Governor took the oath on Saturday at a special sitting of the Royal Court led by the Bailiff, Sir Timothy Le Cocq.
Saturday’s events also included a parade in the Royal Square, consisting of a ceremonial guard from the crew of the frigate HMS Iron Duke, along with a marching platoon from patrol ship HMS Severn, armed forces veterans and local cadets – as well as a special service led by the Dean of Jersey, the Very Rev Mike Keirle, at the Town Church.
