Leicester Tigers rugby union club coaches Steve Borthwick and Kevin Sinfield were guest speakers at the latest Leadership Jersey event at the Pomme d’Or last week.

In partnership with the Jersey Evening Post, Leadership Jersey have been running a series of events where guest speakers are invited to impart their knowledge to existing and future leaders.

The most recent talk, Turning Round Tigers, hosted by JEP reporter Tom Innes, saw Tigers head coach Borthwick and defence coach Sinfield speak about how their experience in the world of professional sport is comparable in many ways to that of business.

In a mesmerising hour over breakfast the two former players described how one of the most important roles they play is that of being a leader and how to get the best from individuals in order to make them into a team.

Sinfield also talked about his fundraising for the MND Association, a charity close to his heart since his former team-mate and friend at Leeds Rhinos Rob Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

During their short stay in the Island, members of the public watched Tigers train at Les Quennevais School on Tuesday before playing a pre-season friendly against Jersey Reds, which they won 35-26 on Friday night.
