Fort Regent: 1980. Christian and Justine Whittingham, Lisa and Danielle Cabot, Suzy Donnelly and Samantha Drew all enjoy themselves at the Fort Regent’s newly-opened section of the children’s playground, “Ventureland”. This was an American ‘invention’ consisting of climbing frames constructed from timber logs, and aluminium supports, with rubber tiles underneath and which proved to be a great success and more popular than the existing playground at the Fort.

Fort Regent: Circus Protest. The Lion Roars! Protesters were ready with their placards and banners down at the harbour for the arrival of the Circus on the Weymouth ferry. The circus was to perform at Fort Regent and one wonders if Humphry, the Fort mascot Lion, was there as an escort or protestor! Picture taken Friday 27th July 1984 at 6.15am!
