JERSEY has provisionally recorded its hottest ever day.
The mercury topped 36°C – the record set in 2003 and equalled in 2019 – at about 2.55pm today, according to Jersey Met’s website and went on to reach 37.9°C.
Almost all of Jersey’s schools have either closed today or only opened for the morning.
Temperatures in the UK, where the Met Office has issued its first ever ‘red’ danger to life heat warning, are expected to climb into the low 40s today or tomorrow.
The weather is expected to become cooler and more unsettled in Jersey tomorrow, with the risk of thundery showers.
