THE Parish of St Helier has apologised “for any inconvenience caused” after several play parks in town were closed.
South Hill’s playground has been closed for safety reasons, the parish said, while part of the People’s Park is closed for maintenance. The zip wire in St Andrew’s Park is also temporarily out of action.
Parade Gardens play area remains closed until April while new equipment is installed.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the parish said in a post.
Town centre manager Connor Burgher said the issues were “minor” and “effectively part of routine maintenance”.
“However, we always err on the side of caution for safety, particularly that of children [which] is paramount,” he said.
Town play areas are inspected on a quarterly basis by an external safety consultant, and are checked each week by St Helier’s parks and gardens team.
