After passing up numerous opportunities to go in front Luke Campbell poked home in the final quarter against Walton & Hersham to keep his side’s 100% record intact in Combined Counties League Division I.
Freeman denied his side were complacent after a below-par first period, but praised them for finally making their pressure pay in the second.
He said: ‘I think we made hard work of it in the first half, we were not at our usual standard. To be fair the lads knew that and had a word with themselves at half time.
‘There were breaks in the game, it was a bit scrappy and we couldn’t get a rhythm, but you have to grind them out and 1-0 will do.
‘Teams are finding out what we are about. They were organised and did cause us problems at times.’
